Readers of the “good old Blog” have no doubt been aware of the ongoing repairs and changes that we have been experiencing.
Not being a “techie” but rather a sports hack, I can’t pretend to know what has been going on within the IT Dept. of Sun Media, so all I can say to those who frequent this Blog is to ask that you try to be patient as those who are in charge of this particular area continue to work to try to get OspreyBlogs.com back to normal.
Being that the playoffs in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League are already underway, I’m going to pass on posting my “full out” predictions and basically just reveal who I had picked to win the four opening-round series.
To be sure, I have only one “upset” pick to make.
My calls are Abitibi over Temiscaming in 5, Sudbury over North Bay in 6, Soo Thunderbirds over Manitoulin in 4 and Blind River over the Soo Eagles in 6.
I’m thinking that the Blind River/Soo Eagles series may up ending being the hardest-fought…and not just on the ice.
As this is being written, the Eagles are trying to move Wednesday’s scheduled Game 2 in the Michigan Soo to Thursday.
Seems there’s a high school hockey game slated for Wednesday night at Pullar Stadium in the Michigan Soo — which is when the Eagles were slated to play host to Blind River.
The Eagles want to move the game to Thursday and while they have their side of the story, the Beavers aren’t so keen on this proposed late change. And I can’t say that I blame them.
At any rate, here’s hoping that OspreyBlogs.com is now fully functional. All seems to be well at the moment.
To be sure, I have missed your comments and feedback.

Eagles win in 5 – WOW!! Besides great goaltending – a team atmosphere and great coaching is why the Eagles won. Paul T let some kids go who did not obey team rules – these were high scoring players – but it left him with a team of players who worked hard and wanted to be there – a true leader!!
Coach Capy on the other hand – asked his players what punishment should be given to a player that missed many practices and games – most notably the first playoff game. They voted on a 3 game suspension – Capy disregarded his team and the player never sat out – he even was rewarded with PP time!!
Paul T lead his team – Capy kicked his team in the nuts! The dressing room was never the same and the only game they won was the one the kid didn’t play in! Congrats Eagles and good luck with the TBirds!!
Are you kidding me, more McCaig talk? never have seen this much talk for such a marginal player. the guy wasn’t a ever even a point a game player and barely even a .5 pt a game player this year before being traded. he went to K&A and did nothing there too. I saw one good shift out of him through all his visits to the Igloo. Give it up already.
Quote from SaultThisWeek.com:
“In all my years of coaching, that’s the best goaltending display I have ever seen,” Blind River coach Jim Capy said of Doan’s performance.
It truly was an amazing performance – the Beavers deserved a better fate – the game results of this series were definitely not indicative of how the games were played! Last night the Beavers just missed or hit the post another dozen times.
I’m not taking anything away from the Eagles – they played very well and worked hard… Good luck!
Well said Luv the Game.
Gotta love players that are coveted for their ability by teams. Never held accountable for their commitment, work ethic or actions yet always seem to be rewarded with playing time. THEY NEVER LEARN BECAUSE NO ONE HOLDS THEM ACCOUNTABLE.
Congrats to the Eagles for cutting out the cancers on a team. Shame on Capy for letting his team down. Ignorance or arrogance when a coach asks something of his team like discipling then ignores it. Result….all respect is gone, gone in 5.
LTG – It will be interesting to see what happens next season – the Beavers have a good group of returning players – but maybe they lost a little “respect” for the coaching staff? Too bad because this team was well crafted and did not rely on any one player to win!! Although the team could have used Paulson on Defence for the Playoffs…
